Josiah and Clive met for the first time on the day these photographs were taken. Clive is my brother, so this event had special significance within the project. Clive was united with a son he did not know he had. It felt special to be part of the journey that led to this point. It brought our family closer together and served as a reminder of how important connections and relationships can be. Josiah has described this meeting as "Atonement — At-one-ment." That single word, and the way he chose to split it, says more than any photograph can. But these images come close. Within My Father, My Son, these photographs represent the realisation that presence and absence can exist within the same frame, and that it is never too late for a father and son to find each other.

Josiah descibed the meeting as "At-one-ment"
I asked Clive what was most important about this moment - "To talk as equals - I was never able or allowed to do that with our Dad."
It felt like they knew each other already.
There was gentleness, and unexpected humour.
